[ADVOCACY] OSCE PA: MP Ignacio Sanchez Amor against extradition of Mr Mirzorakhim Kuzov to Tajikistan and politcal misuse of INTERPOL by non-democratic countries

On request of Global Advocates Foundation, a Member of the Spanish Parliament and the Chair of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions Mr Ignacio Sanchez Amor, intervened and wrote to the Greek authorities regarding the case of the Tajik activist and member of the moderate Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT) Mr Mirzorakhim Kuzov, who was detained in Greece after Tajik authorities placed him on the INTERPOL's Red Notice list.

Mr Sanchez Amor brought the political context of Mr Kuzov's detention. He primarily asked to not allow for extradition, deportation or any kind of return of Mr Kuzov to Tajikistan or any country cooperating closely with, as well as to ensure his protection and safety.

The problem of political misuse of the International Criminal Police Organization's system by non-democratic countries in order to persecute their opponents abroad was also recently raised during the European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg, and before by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
